FRENCH Eric Joseph
passed away from an electrical accident Sunday, August 27, 2017 at 24 years of age. Born November 4, 1992 in Royal Oak, MI, the loving son of the Mark and Kimberly French. Beloved fiancé of the Amanda Ankeny; dear father of Molly Jane French and a baby on the way; caring brother and best friend of Chelsea French; grandson of Ruth Ann (the late Richard H.) Moffett, Zell (the late Robert E.) French. Also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
It’s difficult to sum up Eric’s hobbies. He did everything from soccer, basketball, football, and lacrosse to hunting, snowboarding, working with his hands, and drawing. Not only did he do all of these things but he was better than most at all of them. He was a truly talented individual who pushed others to also do well.
Eric lit up any room he was in; he was so full of life. His storytelling was enjoyed by all, and his laughter and energy were contagious. He could have everyone laughing with his stories just the way he told it; he was so animated.
Eric never met a stranger and would give the shirt off his back to anyone who asked. His friends and family meant the world to him and his big heart was apparent to all.
Wednesday, August 30th from 4-8 p.m. and Thursday, August 31st from 2-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. scripture service at COATS FUNERAL HOME – CLARKSTON, 8909 Dixie Highway, Clarkston.

My heart is breaking for your family, you were such a great kid and I'm sure a great young man. I'm beyond sorry and so very sad. I hope for much strength for your loved ones to get through such a devastating loss. Love to you all, I'm so sorry
I couldn't believe it when I heard the news this morning. We hadn't seen each other in a few years, but you were a true St. Mary's man and a brother to all of us in the 2011 Class. Remember sitting with you at the Father/Son Brunch our senior year and sharing a lot of laughs. Praying for you, your family, and the countless lives you impacted. God has a plan for all of us, and our job isn't to always understand each piece of it - rather, we need to trust in Him always, even when that plan doesn't make sense to us. May God keep your memory and spirit in the hearts of all those who loved you.
Sending my condolences during your time of loss. Praying for your family. May peace transcend beyond your understanding during this time. God Bless.

Dear Kim and Mark and family, our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of tragedy. May God give you the strength you need.
My deepest condolences to the family of Eric Joseph French. I wrestled with Eric bare chested on the lawn in my back yard. We worked on job sites together in 2013 and 2014. We went to lunch often at Sonic in Royal Oak. We drank beer after work at my home. Eric was a great soul and good friend even though we were separated by 35 years. We bonded as brothers. On Memorial Day 2017, I was walking along Commerce Road with my family. For some reason I was talking about how I had not seen Eric in two years. A gray car pulled off the road onto the shoulder in front of us and it was Eric, Amanda and Molly. Eric gave me a big bear hug and introduced me to his young beautiful family. I was happy for him. They told me Amanda was expecting. I congratulated them both. Eric will always be in my heart and thoughts. Eric is now stardust. The universe has reclaimed him. I miss him deeply and the friendship we had.
God bless your family. My daughter and son went to Holly High with this sweet very gentle soul! My heart is broken for you and the world. He was truly one of the good guys. My daughter said Mom no matter what he was always kind to people. May you rest in peace dear Eric! You will be forever missed and never forgotten!

Prayer's to you and your family.
I first met Eric at Michigan State. It was my first year there and I was nervous about going to a big campus and living away from home. I met Eric and ken both at Capital Villa where we all lived. I remember it was the first week of class and my car wouldn't start. I just stood there contemplating on what to do. Then Eric (who I did not know at this time) was driving by and offered assistance. He got in my car then lifted the hood and desided I had a dead battery he jumped my car and I made it to class on time! From there on out our friendship grew , I knew if I ever needed anything I could always ask him. He is one of the most genuine selfless people I still have ever met. Thank you Eric for always being there, I will never forget the countless car fixes and laughs we shared. Rest In Peace. -Brittany
I am so sorry to learn of Eric's passing. It has been many years since I was around this young man but I do remember a very kind and loving young man. My heart goes out to all of his family and friends. May God hold you all in his loving arms.
So sorry to hear of Eric’s tragic passing! I worked with his father, Mark on multiple projects at FCA Sterling Stamping in past years. I remember Mark fondly mentioning he was going hunting, skiing/snowboarding etc. with Eric on several occasions. I didn’t know Eric personally, but I know that he was brought up with loving values, a strong work ethic and a good sense of humor in the household. Our sincerest condolences to all the French family. Our thoughts and prayers will be for you to see this tough time through with God’s help.

What a beautiful boy/man he was. Brought light & joy to all who knew him. It so sad that the world loses him at such a early age. But I believe the Lord needed his beautiful soul up in heaven! Fly high ErJo. & don't worry... those babies will always know & be told how much you love them!

Mark, Kimberly, Chelsea, Amanda and family, words cannot express our sadness. We have watched Eric grow from an energetic child into a hard working respectful young man. Mark and Kimberly. No words can express our sadness of the loss of Eric. Our heart melts with yours. We will always remember him as that quiet soul of a little blonde haired blue eyed boy at cross hill preschool. Love and light to your family during this time of great sorrow.
I did not know Eric well but played soccer with him in the last few years at Legacy. He was a great guy and I remember Amanda bringing Molly to some games and seeing them play with her before the games started, took me back to when my kids were that age. The whole family is in my thoughts and prayers.
